Training Grants Available for Massachusetts Nonprofits
Want to offer Salesforce training to your staff, even though your training budget is tight? The Workforce Training Fund may be able to offset the training costs for your nonprofit, up to 50% of the actual cost of training for employees.
The Workforce Training Fund is a program of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, administered by Commonwealth Corporation. The Workforce Training Fund’s major focus is small to medium-sized businesses that would not be able to make an investment in improving employee skills without the assistance of the Fund.
Your nonprofit may be eligible for up to 50% of the cost of employee training through the Workforce Development Training Fund’s Express Grants Program. Grant funds are limited to $3,000 per employee per course and $30,000 per organization, per calendar year.
This is a reimbursable program: eligible nonprofit organizations pay the full training amount up front, and a nonprofit organizations whose request has been approved will be reimbursed for up to 50% of the actual cost of training. Eligible nonprofits may apply at any time. Both full and part-time employees are eligible for training.
Apply for Salesforce Bootcamp 101 or 201 training
Both Salesforce Bootcamp 101 for Nonprofits and Salesforce Bootcamp 201 for Nonprofits are approved training courses of the Workforce Training Fund Express Grants program. The Express Grants Program assists organizations with 100 or fewer employees (including eligible nonprofit organizations) to address their employee training needs through a list of pre-registered courses. Express Grants program applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Be prepared to submit your online application 6 weeks in advance of your anticipated training date; it may take that long for a final agreement to be executed between the Commonwealth Corporation and the applying organization.

Is your nonprofit eligible for training reimbursement assistance?
To qualify, the nonprofit employer must contribute to the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund. Although all for-profit employers in Massachusetts contribute to the Workforce Training Fund via a surcharge on UI payments, some nonprofits do not. This is determined by the method selected for UI coverage. Nonprofit organizations that select the “contributory method” are paying into the Workforce Training Fund Program (WTFP) and are therefore eligible to apply. Those that select the “reimbursable method” are paying a discounted rate that does not include contribution to the WTFP, and therefore are not eligible to apply.
File for a Certificate of Good Standing for reimbursement eligibility
We highly recommend that you submit a current Department of Revenue Certificate of Good Standing now. For the purposes of the Workforce Training Fund program, the Certificate of Good Standing is only valid for 6 months. You may submit your Certificate via email to email@example.com or via fax to 617-242-7660. Your application will not be considered complete until the receipt of a Certificate of Good Standing has been processed.
